Step 1: Know If You Need an Ireland Visa

A non-EEA person or entity that is not a citizen or resident of a country in the European Economic Area, which basically includes the European Union member states plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. In other words, individuals from outside of the European Union and the European Economic Area can be described as ‘third country ’or ‘non-EEA nationals' and therefore require a visit to Ireland.

Note: Citizens of India, China and other non-EEA countries must apply Ireland study visa.

Step 2: Select the Visa Type

While sharing the details with the assigned counsellors at Canam, you certainly need to tell them whether it will be a short stay or a comparatively longer stay, based on which you will be categorised for the Ireland visa process and the suggested relevant Ireland visa fee. Note: A ‘C type visa’ does not give one the liberty to avail of any paid or unpaid work or to exercise any publicly funded services such as public healthcare.

Step 3: Applying through AVATS (Automated Visa Application and Tracking System)

Step 4: Gather the Required Documents

Following are the documents required to apply for an Irish student visa:

5	Proof of Funds	Bank statements or a sponsor letter showing ability to cover tuition + living costs Inside Dublin: €12,000 Outside Dublin: €10,000
6	Proof of Fee Payment	Applicants must prove that they have paid the tuition fees. If the tuition fee is less than €6,000, you must pay it in full, while if it’s more than €6,000, you must pay at least this amount.
7	Accommodation Proof	Evidence of where you will stay in Ireland
8	Health Insurance	Mandatory – must be valid for the entire duration of your stay
9	Visa Fee Payment Proof	Keep the receipt of the visa application fee (amount may vary)

10	English Language Test	IELTS/TOEFL/PTE/Duolingo
11	Police Clearance Certificate	Required for visa verification to confirm no criminal record

Note: Documents need to be officially translated into English/Irish

Step 5: Pay the Ireland Student Visa Fee

Fees are non-refundable, and payment modes vary by embassy. For a single entry, the Ireland study visa costs €60, while for a multiple entry, it will cost €100. Its always advisable to apply for multiple entry.

Note: Applicants must submit their duly filled Ireland visa application four months in advance of their course start date or at least three weeks prior to their course start date. Applications for an Ireland study visa received less than three weeks prior to the course start date are bound to be returned unprocessed. So, the Irish embassy recommends applying for the Irish study visa as soon as you receive the offer letter or as the case may be.

Approval in Principal Scheme (AIP)
