Program Overview

This course provides the basis for exciting careers as construction managers and assists with employment areas of Construction Management, including Project Management principles, Construction Contract Administration, Construction Risk Management and Construction Technology.

The first four units of the Graduate Diploma of Construction Management incorporate principles of project management as they apply across different phases of the construction cycle to achieve successful project outcomes in terms of time, cost, quality, safety, and sustainability for construction projects.

In your next three units, you will learn the construction-specific nuances of risk management and how to manage those risks. You will also develop an important understanding of legal concepts relevant to contracts and become familiar with the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act.

Your final unit introduces you to modern building construction technology with an emphasis on multi-unit and low-rise construction including material selection and methods of modern construction of residential and commercial projects, including multi-storey buildings as designated by the National Construction Code for building classes 1 to 10.
