Foundation Studies Program (Standard)
Our Foundation Studies Program provides you with a pathway to follow your dreams of studying business, IT, engineering, medicine, nursing, and much more at university.
Why study this Program
- For students studying at the College, once you achieve your required progression score, you are guaranteed entry to your packaged degree, and, for most bachelor’s degrees, you won’t need to provide any further English language evidence.
- We will ensure that you understand all the additional entry requirements for Medicine, Dentistry, Midwifery, Nursing, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy.
- The Foundation Studies Program is streamed, allowing you to choose elective courses that align with your chosen bachelor's degree.
- You will be issued with a packaged Confirmation of Enrolment for the entire duration of study at the College and the University.
- In addition to weekly class attendance, students are also expected to complete 20-25 hours per week of independent learning.
Upon successful completion of the Foundation Studies Program, you will have guaranteed entry to Adelaide University.

Adelaide University’s Bachelor of Psychology majoring in Cognitive Neuroscience provides you with a foundational understanding of the core ideas, principles, theories and methods central to psychology.
The cognitive neuroscience major lets you dive even deeper, rounding out your knowledge of human biology to better understand the role it plays in behaviour.
You’ll study a mix of core courses covering developmental psychology, human anatomy and biology, data science and the foundations in cognitive neuroscience.
Alongside this, you’ll undertake practical experiences in our state-of-the-art campus facilities, such as the Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory, Psychology Clinic and Sleep and Chronobiology Laboratory. Here, you’ll explore brain activity and its influence on cognitive processes and behaviour.
Understand people in a deeper way and open up opportunities for an exciting career in a range of people-focused sectors – from education, human resources and marketing to technology, coaching or client advocacy.
For those interested in becoming a registered psychologist, further study is required through our Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) followed by a Master of Psychology degree.
What you'll learn
The Bachelor of Psychology majoring in Cognitive Neuroscience covers key psychology theories, principles, methods and skills. The cognitive neuroscience major adds further depth with a focus on human biology and cognitive development across the lifespan.
You’ll study courses in health and developmental psychology, helping you understand how people grow and stay healthy at different ages. Complementing this, you’ll also take introductory courses in human anatomy and biology.
Psychological research is embedded across the degree, giving you the skills to analyse and interpret data to form conclusions. You’ll also take courses in areas like:
- Cognition and personality psychology
- Data science for cognitive neuroscience
- Biological and learning psychology
- Language development
- Neuroscience across the lifespan.
Throughout your studies, you’ll develop an understanding of Indigenous and cross-cultural psychology, communication and interpersonal skills, and enhance your collaboration skills.
You will gain practical experience in our state-of-the-art campus facilities, including our Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory, Psychology Clinic and Sleep and Chronobiology Laboratory. These facilities will allow you to investigate brain activity and its impact on cognitive processes and behaviour while using cutting-edge technologies like EEG – putting you at the forefront of cognitive neuroscience research.

Adelaide Academic Excellence Scholarship (50%)
A prestigious scholarship rewarding international students commencing undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degrees. Recipients are offered a 50% tuition fee reduction, with limited places for those with a high distinction average.

The Adelaide Academic Excellence Scholarship offers a 50% tuition fee reduction and is a prestigious, highly competitive award with limited places for students with a high distinction average.
This scholarship recognises international students commencing undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degrees who have achieved outstanding academic performance in their previous studies.
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship you must:
- be an international student
- be applying to study a CRICOS registered bachelor degree (minimum 96 units / 2 years equivalent) after the application of any credit/RPL, or a CRICOS registered master degree (minimum 72 units / 1.5 years equivalent) after the application of any credit/RPL, at Adelaide University;
- satisfy one of the following in the qualification used as the basis of admission to the Adelaide University degree:
- Undergraduate only: applicants with a minimum ATAR of 99 (or international equivalent).
- Undergraduate and postgraduate: applicants with a minimum overall Grade Point Average (GPA) of 6.7 (on a 7.0 scale) or comparable score.
- not be applying to study one of the Excluded Programs (see below);
- not be an Australia Awards recipient; and
- not be an International Sponsored Student entitled to a tuition fee waiver equal to or greater than the scholarship value, in which case the fee waiver amount will apply.
Note: a student cannot receive both a scholarship and a sponsor tuition fee waiver concurrently.

Semester 1 2026 applications open 1 July 2025 and close 31 October 2025. Semester 2 2026 applications open 1 April 2026 and close 22 May 2026.
Your application will be assessed by a selection panel and based on merit. Successful recipients will be notified prior to commencement at Adelaide University and the scholarship will be applied to your Offer of Admission.

The Adelaide Partner Award offers a 10% tuition fee reduction and is automatically assessed and awarded to students from an approved Adelaide University partner institution.
This scholarship supports international students commencing undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degrees.
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship you must:
- Be an international student
- Be applying to study a CRICOS registered bachelor degree (minimum 72 units / 1.5 years equivalent) after the application of any credit/RPL, or a CRICOS registered master degree (minimum 48 units / 1 year equivalent) after the application of any credit/RPL, at Adelaide University;
- Be admitted to an Adelaide University degree from a packaged pathway from an approved provider or as part of a formal articulation arrangement with select international Adelaide University partner institutions;
- Not be applying to study one of the Excluded Programs (see below);
- Not be an Australia Awards recipient; and
- Not be an International Sponsored Student entitled to a tuition fee waiver equal to or greater than the scholarship value, in which case the fee waiver amount will apply.
Note: A student cannot receive both a scholarship and a sponsorship tuition fee waiver concurrently.

Please note that this scholarship cannot be combined with any of the merit-based scholarships.
