Program Overview

Cybersecurity talent is in high demand across Alberta and Canada. This diploma prepares you for entry-level analyst roles that protect organizations from cyber threats.

You’ll start with core IT skills—networking, systems, cloud fundamentals, scripting, and security basics. In Year 2, you’ll dive into cybersecurity with hands-on learning in:

  • Threat detection and response
  • Vulnerability assessment and penetration testing
  • Identity and access management
  • Governance, risk, and compliance (GRC)
  • Security operations

Learning is practical and job-focused, with labs, real tools, and scenarios that mirror current industry practice. You’ll also have the option to complete work-integrated learning through a capstone project.

Our academic partnerships with Microsoft, Cisco, ServiceNow, Palo Alto Networks, and Fortinet ensure curriculum quality and provide pathways to industry certifications that employers value.

Competency-Based Education

This program uses Competency-Based Education (CBE), progress by demonstrating skills, not just hours.

What CBE gives you:

  • Master job-ready skills aligned with real roles like SOC analyst
  • Prove your abilities through labs, scenarios, and authentic assessments
  • Accelerate with prior experience and earn recognition
  • Build a portfolio that speaks to employers
