Prepare for registration to become an in-demand, qualified osteopath.

There's strong demand for qualified osteopaths in New Zealand, Australia and Asia. This qualification enables you to gain the necessary additional skills and knowledge required to apply for registration to practice with the Osteopathic Council of New Zealand*.

The programme involves case-based learning which is clinically relevant and focused on ensuring you’re competent and safe to enter the profession.

Among other things, it covers how to: work professionally, ethically and legally in primary healthcare settings; apply ethical decision-making processes to your practice; apply interpersonal and intrapersonal skills and professional values to your practice for people with diverse needs and backgrounds; and how to respond culturally and safely when working with patients, colleagues, healthcare workers and communities.

    Ara International Student Academic Scholarship

    The International Student Academic Scholarship recognizes high-achieving international students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance and a strong commitment to global engagement. This scholarship is designed for students who understand the value of internationalization and are eager to contribute to the vibrant, inclusive culture of Ara. 

    Recipients of this scholarship will not only excel academically but also serve as ambassadors of cultural exchange—enriching our campus community through their perspectives, leadership, and enthusiasm for connecting across cultures.

    • Provide a personal statement, no more than 500 words that outlines the special circumstances that make you a candidate for this scholarship.? 

    • Provide two referee reports (one from a tutor) that comment on your ability to succeed in this program and attest to your character. If you are a new international student and have not studied at Ara, please provide two character referee reports (at least one from a previous tutor). Please use the template provided below.? 

    Once you have submitted your application, please send your supporting documentation by the close-off date (any documentation sent after the close-off date will not be considered, unless prior permission is sought) via email to: scholarships@ara.ac.nz?? 

    To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must: 

    • Be a new applicant for a 2026 program. Scholarships are available for both Semester One (4 places) and Semester Two (3 places) intakes

    • Be an international student enrolling at Ara in a Level 7 or above bachelor's, Postgraduate, or Master’s programme 

    • Demonstrate excellent academic achievement in previous studies 

    • Show a genuine commitment to internationalization and contributing positively to the Ara community 

    • Meet all programme entry requirements and hold a valid, approved student visa to study in New Zealand
