Program Overview
This Business and Management (Tourism Management) course gives you a grounding in the theory and practice of business in the context of contemporary tourism. You'll cover a broad range of topics including marketing strategy, and take a sociological approach to tourism. You’ll also open up your thinking to alternative visions of the tourism sector.
This course will enable you to become a confident professional in both a local and a global context. Your future career prospects could include roles in airlines and travel organisations, jobs promoting or marketing tourist attractions, and key positions in hospitality management.
Following our tourism management pathway, you’ll develop specialist skills. You’ll learn to:
- Evaluate different approaches to destination management
- Understand contemporary social changes as they relate to tourism
- Demonstrate your knowledge of a range of emerging tourism forms.
In addition to this, you’ll develop the key skills and knowledge of business and management that will enable you to thrive in a variety of business settings. You’ll cover a range of disciplines across tourism, hospitality, the public sector, destination organisation and management. With a global mindset, hands-on experience in working with real-life briefs and specialist knowledge of the UK and international travel sector, you’ll be well positioned to kick start your career in a travel and destination business.
You can also bring in modules from areas outside of the Tourism Management pathway if you want to explore issues around a particular theme, such as sustainability or global affairs.

If you are a high-achieving student from outside the UK and are entering undergraduate or postgraduate studies with us, you may benefit from the International Recruitment Office Scholarship.
The following scholarships are available:
- £5,000 off tuition fees for the first year of study (two scholarships available)
- £1,000 off tuition fees for the first year of study (20 scholarships available)
Criteria
This scholarship is for candidates who are joining Bath Spa University in September, entering either:
- A three-year undergraduate programme
- A one-year postgraduate programme

How applications are judged
The University Committee will review applications within one month of the application deadline. You will hear back from us following this review.
India Scholarship
Apply for up to £2,000 towards the cost of your first year fees in the 2026/27 academic year.
Bath Spa University works with a number of regional offices to support its work across the world, and number of scholarships are available to support applicants from India.
The following scholarships are available:
- £2,000 off tuition fees for the first year of study (10 scholarships available)
- £1,000 off tuition fees for the first year of study (20 scholarships available for the first 20 students who apply)
Criteria
The India Regional Office Scholarship is available to both undergraduate and postgraduate applicants.
- Postgraduate students must achieve at least 70% in their degree.
- Undergraduate students must achieve at least 70% overall in their 12th grade, for example, A-Levels.
Applicants must first apply for their programme of study direct to Bath Spa University through our official University representative in India, and be processed through Bath Spa University India.
Applicants can be from outside India, but must be processed through the regional office in India.
